Q : How would you style the Juno Dress?
First, you could layer it with black or white leggings, or even printed ones. Then, it all depends on if you want to dress it up or down. You can make it casual with a fun trainer and a white denim jacket. If you want to make it dressier, try a metallic shoe like the Rose Gold Derby Lace Up to elevate your look. Wearing a poncho on top highlights the flowiness of the dress. You can also dress it up with a boot, statement necklace or simple metallic hoops - we love metallic hoops, they go with everything and don't compete with the rest of your outfit. And if you want to add a pop of colour, try a cobalt blue long line cardigan - it’s not as structured but even more comfortable.
*Update: the Sublime Blue Button Cape showcased in the Live is now sold out - we have included an alternative, the Kani Navy Knit Poncho. The Chill Brand Ankle Boot is now sold out - we have included a similar alternative, the Filo Tan Mid Ankle Boot.
Q: 5'2, Apple Body Shape - What should I wear to a funeral?
Of course, it depends on the person and how you would usually dress for a funeral - a lot of people tend to wear black so we will stick to that.
The Juno dress would be gorgeous on an apple, as it sits fitted through the bust but there’s extra fabric and shape through the bottom.
The Asta dress would be perfect - it falls under the bust, has a slight v neck and a collar. You can layer it with a black long sleeve shirt, add some colour with a cobalt blue poncho or add a bit of softness with a pink printed scarf or longline cardigan.
The Nat Black Midi dress would also be a great option - it has a seam under the bust, drawstring and a bit of elastic at the sleeve which looks beautiful on the arm. This one would look great with black dressy boots or metallic sneakers with black tights.
*Update: the Sublime Blue Button Cape showcased in the Live is now sold out - we have included an alternative, the Lena Grey Cashmere Poncho. The Beau Pink Longline Cardigan is now sold out - we have included a similar alternative, the Cynthia Rose Marle Longline Cardigan.
Q: Can you please recommend a good work pant for larger thighs - I want to avoid noise when I walk.
If you’re curvier at the bottom, synthetic fabrics tend to make that noise when you walk and the fabric rubs together. So you will want the shape of your pants to be more straight and not as slim in order to create length in your legs and look for thicker, softer fabrics - the Ponte pant worn with a longer top or a tunic would be a great option.
Q: What’s the difference between the Zeehan and your other ruched skirt?
1- The ruched skirt has a thinner waistband but it is elasticated - it still has a lot of movement but it is definitely thicker elastic. The Zeehan, on the other hand, has a wider waistband but it is in the same fabric as the skirt, so there’s no elastic at all, which means that it will sit flat on the body. All in all, the ruched skirt will feel tighter on the body.
2- The Zeehan is longer than the ruched skirt: the Zeehan hits below the knee for our stylist Dan (she is 5’2) and the ruched skirt hits on or just above the knee. The ruching on the ruched skirt is more visible and structured than on the Zeehan, the latter has a softer ruching and is generally more relaxed.
Q: What to wear with a long black bamboo tube skirt, besides batwing tops?
This depends on your body shape and what you’re comfortable wearing but one thing is for sure, you don’t have to wear the same fabric on top and bottom when you’re wearing a long bamboo tube skirt.
You could wear a beautiful pink knit to add some colour or a striped linen shirt; wearing two different fabrics will give you two different looks. Whichever shirt you choose to wear, know that the skirt is flat through the front which means that you can do a half-tuck. For example, we do have some Bamboo tops that are not batwing and more straight-through, such as the Adele Tan Stripe Long Sleeve Bamboo Tee - if you tuck it in all around, you can get a blouse effect on the waistband or you can leave it out and do a half-tuck.
*Update: the Adele Tan Stripe Long Sleeve Bamboo Tee showcased in the Live is now sold out - we have included a similar alternative, the Adele Red Long Sleeve Bamboo Tee. The Marla Hot Pink Knit Drape Jumper is now sold out - we have included a similar alternative, the Jemima Pink Knit Jumper.
Q: Broad Shoulders & Large Bust Line - What to wear?
If you have a bigger bust and broader shoulders, you will want to show a bit of skin around the neck and in the chest area as it will make this part of your body look narrower and won’t draw as much attention to your bust. On the other hand, if you wear tops that sit higher, your eyes tend to go straight to the bust and shoulders, which can make you look broader. A neckline that sits a bit lower, such as a scoop neck, will help break up your torso. If you’re wearing a seam under the bust, make sure that it’s deep enough so that it doesn’t cut your bust off.
V-necks, round necks and scoop necks are all good options - you can choose to wear a scarf over your top in winter and still be showing some skin underneath!
