BBIC Live: Style Club - Tuesday, June 8, 2021

Here is a link to this week's video: https://www.facebook.com/Bluebungalow/videos/350200483124589/

Dan is wearing the Rosalie Navy Cotton Smock Dress in a Small/Medium with the Delilah Natural Woven Elastic Belt. She also showcases the Anais Khaki Knit Cardigan which looks great with navy!

Denim Talk With Dan

Our stylist, Dan, loves wearing denim in the colder months. Here are the items that she showcased in this week's live!

The Light Denim Stretch Jacket - this one hits at the hip, which is very flattering and looks amazing with a dress.

The Rellie Blue Denim Stretch Jacket - which is slightly longer and more structured.

The Morgan Black Denim Oversized Jacket - this is a boyfriend-style denim jacket, it’s meant to be oversized, Dan would wear this one with a pair of pants or jeans as it would help break up the body. *Update - this jacket is now sold out, we have included a similar alternative, the Danielle Black Stretch Jean Jacket (note however that this one is not boyfriend-style and is not meant to have an oversized fit).

The Demi Blue Denim Shirt Dress - with detailing through the front, plain through the back. You could belt it at the waist, roll the sleeves up, wear tights underneath; Dan loves wearing all one colour underneath, for example all black, and adding a neutral shoe or boot. You can also wear it coming into spring, the fabric is very light, like a chambray shirt.

The Buderim Blue Denim Maxi Skirt - this same print also comes in a skirt. It has a waistband that is flat through the front but has an elastic at the back which makes it super comfortable as it has more give and more movement.

The Odette Black Denim Wash Dress - babydoll shape, you can belt it or layer underneath to wear it as a tunic. It’s a dark charcoal but it has a “worn” look.

The Bodhi Blue Denim Slim Leg Jean - this is a great basic denim jean, tapered at the ankle.

The Elias Blue Wash Star Cotton Pant - more like a comfortable lounge pant with a drawstring waistband.

The Tasha Denim Leopard Jogger Pant - you can do denim on denim if you pair it with a light denim jacket and a white singlet underneath as the two pieces are different enough.

*Update: the Buderim Blue Denim Maxi Skirt is now sold out - we have included an alternative, the Lacy Blue Denim Stretch Skirt.

Q: I’m interested in purchasing a blue stripe shirt, I would like suggestions re cardigans, jumpers, pants to wear with them. I’m a size 16 and 5’6.

Dan suggests two different options, the Navy and White Stripe Milan ¾ Sleeve Top and the Blake Pink Stripe Top. The fabric is beautiful and you could wear a long-sleeve shirt underneath.

The pink stripe top looks amazing with a pair of jeans. You can add a grey cardigan on top; the red/pink ends up becoming the hero and the cardigan just adds to the look with a pair of white trainers. If you don’t want to wear a boot but need to wear a closed-toed shoe, a pair of tan loafers would also look fabulous. You can then add a tan leather bag.

For another look, you could also throw on a light denim jacket, black jeans and a black boot. The great thing is that you have one basic top that goes with everything; whenever Dan sees a top with a red and white stripe, a navy and white stripe, spots, etc she picks it up as they all work amazingly well together and with solid colours. This red/pink stripe is the perfect example of a piece that adds value to your wardrobe as it is very versatile, you can create so many outfits with it.

For something a bit different but that just works, you could wear it with the Anais Khaki Knit Cardigan, a neutral bag, a neutral boot and your favourite pair of jeans.

This gives you a few ideas on how to wear stripes. All the looks that Dan showcased would work just as well with your navy and white striped shirt - which is why we love a stripe or a spot basic!

*Update: the Sublime Grey Marle Button Cape is now sold out - we have included a similar alternative, the Quatro Grey Bamboo Cashmere Longline Cardigan.

Q: Could you show me a few ways I can wear my Kendal Khaki Dress?

Our stylist, Dan, loves khaki as she considers it a neutral. You can wear it exactly the same way as you would black or navy.

You can layer with a black long sleeve underneath, black tights and boots for some warmth. Then you can pop a denim jacket over the top and wear a crossbody neutral bag and a neutral scarf and boots. If you don’t feel like wearing boots then try a white trainer, which looks fabulous.

Next, you could go khaki on khaki! Grab your Anais Khaki Knit Cardigan, your Aubrey Orange Floral Scarf and your tan cross-body bag and you have another outfit.

If you’re not into yellow, you could replace that scarf with the Rosanna Red Floral Scarf, which ends up being the hero of what you’re wearing because of its beautiful bright colour.

For something a bit softer, try the beautiful Beau Pink Longline Cardigan paired with your neutral bag and a tan boot or white trainer. You can add a scarf like the Olivia Pink Floral Scarf which looks absolutely stunning!

Let’s say you only have a Dreamer Black Longline Coatigan at home, well you could do the great Amari Leopard Spot Scarf with a tan bag, Emma Black Embossed Ankle Boot or white trainer.

*Update: the Amari Leopard Spot Scarf showcased in the Live is now sold out - we have included an alternative, the Butler Brown Zebra Stripe Scarf. The Beau Pink Longline Cardigan is now sold out, we have included the Cynthia Rose Marle Longline Cardigan as an alternative. The Olivia Pink Floral Scarf is now sold out, we have included the Rosanna Pink Floral Scarf as an alternative.

We’re making Kendal work hard!

Q: What do you suggest as a nice top to wear over the black bamboo ruched skirt - I need something with a bit of length at the back?

It really does depend if you’re going to be dressing it up or dressing it down - stock standard would be black tights, you can then mix up your boots and shoes. Our stylist, Dan, loves showcasing a tan boot that way.

Dan is loving the Emory Pink Pitaya Bamboo Batwing Top or, if you want to keep it all tonal, try the Juliet Black Flower Drape Top - how fabulous! You can also layer that one with a black long sleeve underneath. The Sarah Navy Abstract Sleeved Top would also look great with your ruched skirt.

She also has her heart set on the Nelly Nude Long Sleeve Top, which would also look amazing with black Ponte pants, leather-look pants or jeans. Paired with the ruched skirt and black tights - amazing! This is a colour that we can wear with anything - white, cream, navy, black, khaki, chocolate brown, charcoal. It looks beautiful with denim, a cross-body tan handbag and a white trainer - just add the Amari Leopard Spot Scarf.

*Update: the Amari Leopard Spot Scarf showcased in the Live is now sold out - we have included an alternative, the Samantha Mauve Stripe Scarf.

As you can see we’re using the same accessories - everything goes well together.

Q: I’m looking for a scarf to wear with my navy modal dress - do you have any suggestions?

Realistically, we could do anything! Yellow tones and neutral tones are easy - wearing navy is very similar to wearing black. The yellow really pops!

You could go with a red scarf - this is a great look as the scarf ends up being what we’re looking at first.

Then you could go with the Amari Leopard Spot Scarf which has a tartan print, animal print and spots - Dan loves mixing patterns!

*Update: the Amari Leopard Spot Scarf showcased in the Live is now sold out - we have included an alternative, the Petrova Pink Floral Merino Scarf.
