Here is a link to this week's video: https://www.facebook.com/Bluebungalow/videos/336853464475983/
Our stylist, Dan, is wearing the Dale Chocolate Turtleneck Knit Poncho with the Riley Black Bamboo Legging and the Filo Black Mid Ankle Boot.
Neutrals Segment
What is a neutral? For Dan it would be:
- Winter whites: cream, something with a little bit more brown in it.
- Brown tones: camel, skin coloured tones.
- Pink tones: blush or pink with a brown base.
- Grey: it can be considered a neutral as it can be worn with everything, it’s still light, it’s still crisp so it ends up being a neutral tone.
- Some prints can be considered neutrals: a leopard print or a natural/tan base with black spots
What if we wanted to do a full neutral look?
Let’s start with the Cece Beige Check Knit Cardigan, which will be the hero of what we'll be wearing. A white jean would look fabulous with a white long sleeve bamboo basic. Add a textured sneaker or a white shoe with a platform. We can see that everything is quite tonal and works beautifully back together. We could even do a little tan ankle boot. If you don’t want to wear white jeans, try a long line tube skirt. If we wanted to we could take our knit cardigan away and try a grey longline cardigan like the Sublime Grey Marle Button Cape. You could wear your tube skirt with a white shirt or open up the shirt and wear it as a jacket if you want something a little bit softer than a jacket - add a light denim jean with a trainer or tan neutral boot. You could also do a stripe tube skirt with your linen shirt and tights underneath for warmth.
As we can see, we’re building a stunning neutral wardrobe by looking at the colour and at the tones, which naturally work together.
Now let’s take the Evangeline Ombre Purple Cardigan: it does have some pink and blue tones but it is still a nice, neutral base. Let’s pop on a jean, a white top and a trainer.
When you’re looking at your wardrobe at home, it’s important that you realize that you have your core basics and your fashion pieces which go together.
Let’s grab our Nina Tan Bamboo Cable Knit Jumper, pop on a white basic underneath and a pair of white jeans and add a fabulous scarf. All the neutral tones are working beautifully together!
Bindi Pink Grey Feather Scarf: this one has pink tones but you could still consider it a neutral. It looks beautiful with a grey poncho and a pair of jeans - what a soft and stunning look! You could go casual with a trainer or do a boot.
Ren Brown Diamond Scarf: burnt orange and brown tones with a 70s-inspired, geometric print. It looks great paired with the checkered longline cardigan and a white jean.

Q: How would you style the Dahlia skirt?
The Dahlia skirt is fabulous because it has so much weight to it. It’s a hi-lo, so high at the front and lower at the back. What jacket would I wear if I was wearing it to work or out to dinner? The Reeva Black Bamboo Cotton Jacket is light and breathable, falls really beautifully and it has a lovely neckline. You could add tights and a pair of tan or black boots and just do a great basic underneath, like a plain black long sleeve top so that you can play around and have fun with your scarves and your accessories.
A classic denim jacket would work beautifully with it! Let’s take our leopard print scarf again, add a black basic and black tights - fabulous. Wear with boots or a cute white trainer for an amazing casual look.
You could also grab your grey poncho again and simply add a black top underneath.
So it all really depends on where you want to wear it but, all in all, this is a great skirt that you can wear as much in summer as in winter and everything goes well with it.
You could even do a great white shirt to keep it crisp and basic or a nice jumper like the Nina Tan Bamboo Cable Knit Jumper that we looked at earlier.
*Update: the Dahlia Skirt is now sold out - a similar alternative would be the Lana Black Bamboo Cotton Maxi Skirt. While it does not have the same hi-lo design, it can be worn with the same pieces showcased in the Live.
*Update: the Sublime Grey Marle Button Cape is now sold out, we have included a similar alternative, the Lena Grey Cashmere Poncho. The Reeva Black Bamboo Cotton Jacket is now sold out in most sizes - we have included a similar alternative the Tori Black Tulip Coat. The Nina Tan Bamboo Cable Knit Jumper is now sold out - we have included an alternative, the Marnie Blush Drape Jumper.
Q: How to style straight and skinny jeans - which tops look better with different types of jeans?
Whether you have a skinny or straight leg jean, you can wear anything with both of them. You could do a great linen top with a layering piece in winter, a fabulous knit with accessories, like a statement scarf. Both jeans look great with those tops; it’s not about the leg shape of the jean, but more about the style and the colour and how you're putting it all together.
Q: How can I style the Alani Turtleneck Poncho without adding bulk?
You could wear your Alani Black Turtleneck Poncho over black leggings. You could wear it with jeans and a black long sleeve top underneath with our scarf of the day. You could wear a pair of black Ponte pants - we have a brand new pair called the Quentin Black Ponte Pant - or one with a bit of texture and a print like the Frankie Animal Print High Waist Legging. The Alani Turtleneck Poncho is such a great basic that you can wear with absolutely everything!
*Update: the Flaxy Beige Brown Leopard Scarf showcased in the Live is now sold out - we have included a similar alternative, the the Butler Brown Zebra Stripe Scarf.
Q: I have a couple of maxi tube skirts but I’m 5’10 - I would love to wear leggings and tights under them, what would you recommend?
You could wear your Leopard Bamboo Maxi Tube Skirt with black leggings and boots - this is how Dan would wear it in winter, with a poncho. You could switch it up with a Tan Spot Bamboo Maxi Tube Skirt or a White Bronze Stripe Bamboo Maxi Tube Skirt which would look amazing, the latter which you could also wear with a navy or white legging underneath and a pair of trainers or ankle boots.
