Thinking of adding some new rayon styles to your wardrobe? Read through our care guide to help your pieces stay smooth, comfortable, and lovely to wear for years to come.
Why Choose Rayon
Breathable
Rayon’s natural cellulose fibres allow air to flow freely through the fabric, helping to regulate body temperature. This breathability reduces heat build-up and keeps you feeling comfortable all day.
Lightweight
Rayon is made from fine, soft fibres that create a light and airy fabric without compromising strength. Its lightweight nature makes it ideal for layering, travel, or garments that move fluidly with the body.
Absorbent
Rayon has a wonderful ability to absorb moisture, making it feel cool and comfortable against the skin. It helps draw sweat away, keeping you feeling fresh and dry on warm days.
Care Instructions
Washing Rayon
Rayon clothes usually need to either be dry cleaned or hand-washed in cold water; some may be fine to put in the washing machine, but confirm by reading the care label first. If you use a machine, choose a delicate cycle and place the garment in a mesh bag.
Drying Rayon
Rayon should always be air-dried to protect its delicate fibres. After washing, gently press out excess water without wringing or twisting, then reshape the garment.
Answering Your Frequntly Asked Questions
Rayon is a semi-synthetic fabric made from natural cellulose fibres, usually derived from wood pulp. It combines the comfort and breathability of natural fibres with the smooth, silky feel of a more refined fabric, making it versatile, lightweight, and easy to wear.
It sure is, which is why we stock so many styles in that fabric! Rayon is great for humid weather as it absorbs moisture, which keeps you dry, and is flowy and breathable
As a general rule, rayon tends to hold its shape well but it will shrink if washed in warm water or put in the dryer, so make sure that you follow the instructions above to keep your dresses looking as good as new.
No, you should avoid putting rayon in the dryer and instead simply lay your garments out to air dry.
Hot tip: roll your rayon dress in a towel and gently press to remove excess water before laying out to dry - perfect if you can’t wait to wear it again!
Rayon does tend to wrinkle so get that ironing board out of the closet and, while your clothes are still slightly damp, turn them inside out and iron the garment on a low heat setting over a clean tea towel so as not to leave any heat marks. If you have a steamer, even better!
Rayon has very little natural stretch, so it generally holds its shape rather than stretching out. Some rayon blends, especially those mixed with elastane or spandex, will have more flexibility, but pure rayon is best enjoyed for its soft drape rather than stretch.
