Our stylist, Dan, wears the Peta Navy Stripe Cotton Shirt, the Reed White Stretch Cotton Pant and the Paloma Pink Wood Necklace
The Peta shirt comes in sizes 10 to 18 and is priced at $131.95. It has button detailing on the sleeves which gives you the option to wear it as a long sleeve or with the sleeves pushed up. We have great pocket detailing with the stripes going the other way. If we wanted to we could tie it in a little knot at the front or you could do it up and do a tuck just at the front. It would look great with denim but, when worn with white pants, it totally elongates the body.

Q: Can you please recommend a nice white sneaker that I can put orthotics in?
The great thing at BB is that we tend to do a broad range of styles that are orthotic-friendly. We’ll show you 2 styles today but we have more on the website.
Voss White Leather Slip On Sneaker: it comes in white and in blush, it is a great fit and it is quite streamlined. There is great toggle detailing through the front and it has stretchy laces, so no need to do them up every single time, you can just pull them on. What we mean when we say that a shoe is orthotic-friendly is that the sole is totally removable; you can pop your orthotic in and you wouldn’t even know it’s there.
Pixie Star White Leopard Leather Sneaker: we have a leopard print star, a little metallic detailing, it comes in a few different colours (white, silver and black), we have some perforated detailing through the toe and, again, this one has a thick sole that comes out.
Q: Does the Essi Top need ironing?
Obviously, when we get it out of the wash we want it to be pressed a little bit for it to be more streamlined on the body. Dan puts all the shirts that she has just washed straight on a hanger so that she doesn’t need to press them, she could get away with it. But the Essi would do well with a little steaming - it’s a crepe-like material and has quite a bit of texture in the fabric so as the day goes it won’t drive you crazy if it creases a little bit.
Q: Could you highlight a hat of the week and show the clip that attaches the hat to the bag that BB sells?
The Out Of The Blue Woven Hat has a leather band and pom poms. The colourway is not really a crisp white, more of a winter white, but you can pair it back with any shade of white and it looks amazing.
Dan picked this one out because she’s dying to go to Greece and this reminds her of diving into the Aegean sea.
Next, we have the Ivory Travel Fedora which we love - it comes in many colours and two sizes. These travel hats are great because they’re all adjustable, you can wash them, fold them down and pop them in your luggage and they come out intact.
Now the hat clip is called the Klipsta - it comes in black, grey, pink, khaki, cobalt blue and a neutral shade. It’s a thick, very high-quality silicone and what you do is you tie it around your bag strap or belt loop and the strong magnet holds onto the hat, which allows you to walk around without losing your hat! You could use this for a scarf or other items as well. For more about the Klipsta hat clip and why we love it, read our blog post.
The bag that Dan showcased is the Candace Tan Woven Straw Bag.
Q: I have a small bust and v-necks don’t suit me - what should I do?
What you can do is wear a higher neckline which will take away emphasis from your bust while being extremely flattering on the body. For reference, Dan is a 10B, so she is also smaller in the bust.
The Mali Blush Drape Top is a great option because it’s not a v-neck, it’s a wider neck so we’re showing skin which is great. A round boatneck neckline is perfect for someone that is more petite in the bust because it’s not showing the V but it’s still showing skin.
This one is a beautiful navy shade, it’s the Aurora Navy Short Sleeve Top. This would be extremely flattering on your body shape as there are little pintucks, pleats through the bust. What you can do is play around with the neckline and choose where you want the neckline to sit. It’s a slight hi-lo depending on how much you play with the neckline.
The Essi Top is a great shape because it has a wider neckline as well. You could also do a sleeveless top with a high neckline.
Now the Briar Navy Stripe Cotton Tee is a great t-shirt option - it has a nice, slight scoop neck with white detailing on the collar which adds interest and it’s a slim fit but it’s not tight, it sits straight on the body which is extremely flattering. You can do a twist at the front and tuck it in - beautiful. So a slight round neck works really well if you have a smaller bust!
Q: How do I wear a maxi skirt if I’m a short lady?
The first thing about a maxi skirt is that you have to make sure that the waist is at the right spot.
This is the Lexi Navy Ruffle Tier Skirt. Now, when a garment is quite loose on the bottom we want a fitted top. It doesn’t have to be a singlet, it could be a shirt that you half-tuck through the front, but you want to balance out your torso.
Dan wears all of her skirts on her waist because it’s the smallest part of her body, which is what we want to emphasize. If she wears it lower on her hips her body shape looks totally different; it stops at the widest part of Dan’s body which makes it lose its shape, as her torso looks long and her legs really short which we don’t want to do - we want to keep the waistband of the skirt at the smallest part of your body. If you have an hourglass figure like Dan, that would be your waist. Dan wears her maxi skirt with a nice neutral slide, like the Bree Tan Woven Mule, or a wedge.
Have a question for Dan? Leave it in the comments below and don’t forget to tell her where you want to wear your pieces and what you want to pair the with - the more details the better!
You can catch her every Tuesday at 4pm (AEST) in the Blue Bungalow Inner Circle Facebook group - don’t worry, we record the sessions so you can always watch them later.
